Textar is an established brand in the field of brake discs, which also stands out for its adaptation to modern driving conditions, particularly the increasing number of electric vehicles.

This Textar brake disc is mainly of interest to owners of the Renault Zoe. In electric vehicles, recuperation generally takes over a large part of the deceleration, which means that the mechanical brakes are used less frequently, resulting in different material requirements for discs. Under these conditions, it represents a durable and reliable solution.

The solid disc has a diameter of 260 mm and a thickness of 8 mm. The 05/07 drilling pattern offers flexibility during installation. The coated surface protects effectively against rust formation, which can occur in electric vehicles due to infrequent braking.

Advantages

  • Optimised for the Renault Zoe

Bosch brake discs represent German engineering excellence and decades of experience in the field of automotive technology. They combine modern manufacturing processes with high quality standards. Bosch develops reliable and powerful components for a wide range of vehicles.

This brake disc is particularly attractive because it combines high quality with a durable design. The high-carbon machining increases the surface hardness and improves wear resistance. At the same time, the ventilated design ensures efficient heat dissipation, which is particularly advantageous when braking at high speeds or on long motorway stretches. The ECE approval additionally confirms the tested safety and reliability of the product.

The disc has a thickness of 24.9 mm and therefore offers generous material reserves for a long service life. Thanks to the anti-rust coating, it is effectively protected against corrosion. With a bolt circle diameter of 112 mm, nine mounting holes and a centring diameter of 65 mm, the disc can be mounted precisely and vibration-free. The ventilated structure distributes the heat evenly in the internal channels - a decisive advantage in demanding driving conditions.

Zimmermann brake discs represent German engineering, innovation and the highest manufacturing quality. The brand develops solutions that perform well both in everyday use and high-performance applications.

The Zimmermann Formula Z offers decisive advantages for sports car owners. The two-piece, floating design with an aluminium brake disc bell reduces weight and minimises thermal stresses, effectively preventing warping. The drilled and ventilated design for high performance ensures excellent cooling through rapid removal of heat and gases. This is an important feature for powerful vehicles that are often subjected to high thermal loads. The disc has ECE approval.

The brake disc has a thickness of 32 mm and is therefore ideal for demanding applications. The large diameter of 370 mm enables extremely high braking performance. The alloyed and high-carbon surface increases the hardness and resistance of the disc, while the Coat-Z coating provides additional protection against corrosion. This is a product that is both powerful and durable, ideal for the highest driving dynamics requirements.

Buying guide for brake discs

When buying brake discs, drivers need to consider several factors.

  • The right diameter: The brake disc must exactly match the vehicle model and the specifications in the vehicle documents.
  • Disc type: Solid discs are suitable for small cars and normal driving conditions; ventilated discs are necessary for higher speeds and sporty driving.
  • Surface and coating: Coated discs cost more, but offer a longer service life, better rust protection and a more attractive appearance.
  • Bolt circle and centring dimension: These dimensions must fit the vehicle exactly, otherwise installation is not possible.
  • Minimum thickness: The specified minimum thickness indicates when the disc is worn and needs to be replaced.

Tip: Brake discs should always be replaced in pairs on an axle to ensure even braking.

Types of brake discs

Type Properties Application Advantages Disadvantages
Solid brake discs Solid disc without ventilation Small cars, normal driving style Inexpensive, simple design, sufficient for city use Limited heat dissipation under extreme loads
Ventilated brake discs Cooling ribs between two disc halves Medium-size cars, front axle Better heat dissipation, higher continuous load Higher price, greater weight
Drilled brake discs Additional holes in the disc Racing, high-Performance Rapid heat and gas dissipation Increased brake pad wear
Slotted discs Grooves on the surface Sports cars, wet conditions Clean pads, better braking effect in the rain Higher noise level
Ceramic brake discs Fibre composite material Supercars, luxury cars Extremely light, very heat-resistant Very expensive, special pads required
Two-piece brake discs Aluminium bell High-performance vehicles Reduced unsprung weight Highest price, complex assembly

The choice depends on the type of vehicle, driving style and budget. Defective brake discs can be recognised by vibrations, noises or visible scoring on the surface. These wearing parts must be replaced when the minimum thickness is reached.

The ideal brake disc depending on requirements

Regular maintenance of the brake system is crucial for safety, as discs and pads are among the most important wearing parts. In the event of problems such as grinding, vibrations or longer braking distances, drivers should visit a garage immediately or replace the parts themselves. With the right brake discs and proper fitting, you can drive many kilometres safely and without any problems.

The brake discs must match the vehicle and the individual driving style. For small cars and normal driving conditions, the ATE 24.0109-0123.1 with its rating of 9.3 is ideal, as it offers high quality with coating at a fair price. The Brembo Prime is also a good product for normal driving conditions. The Zimmermann Formula Z is the preferred choice for sports car enthusiasts.

As the leading European platform for the purchase of spare parts, AUTODOC offers over 6.7 million spare parts from around 2,500 brands. Fast delivery and reliable service make online shopping a convenient alternative to traditional retail.

What are the best brake disc brands?

Brake discs for car makes

Frequently asked questions

Which products are better, ATE or Zimmermann?

The answer depends on the intended use. Zimmermann scores points with its better heat dissipation for sporty driving above 200 km/h, while ATE offers excellent value for normal conditions. Both fulfil the highest quality standards.

Which is better, TRW or ATE?

When it comes to quality, both manufacturers deliver first-class braking systems. TRW often offers larger diameters for medium-size vehicles, while ATE is the preferred choice for small cars. The differences lie mainly in the vehicle type and the product range.

Is Brembo or Bosch better?

There is no general answer to this question. Both manufacturers have high safety standards. The choice depends on your budget.

Which is better, ATE or Bosch?

Both manufacturers produce in Germany according to strict standards. Bosch scores with innovative brake systems and app support for finding parts, ATE with favourable prices. On the brake test bench, both show comparable values when installed.

Which is better, Brembo or Zimmermann?

Zimmermann offers two-piece high-end solutions for sports cars, while Brembo covers a broader spectrum. Zimmermann scores points for extreme loads, Brembo for versatility in the entire braking system.

Drilled or slotted brake discs – which are better?

Drilled discs improve gas dissipation and cooling, while slotted discs continuously clean the pads. Drilled versions are ideal for performance and speed, while slotted versions are better suited to wet conditions.

Should I choose drilled or solid brake discs?

Solid discs last longer and are quieter in everyday use. Drilled discs offer better cooling for sporty driving, but increase wear. For normal driving behaviour, solid discs are perfectly adequate; drilled discs are the better choice for sports cars.

Are ventilated or solid brake discs better?

Sold discs are sufficient for small cars. Ventilated discs are important for higher performance and play an important role in more powerful vehicles.

What are the benefits of new brake discs compared to old ones?

New discs guarantee optimum braking performance. Old discs often show scoring, brake dust and changes in surface colour. The difference is particularly noticeable with longer braking distances or vibrations.
