Performance on wet roads

The PremiumContact 7 shows outstanding performance on wet roads, achieving top marks in the test. Its braking performance on wet asphalt is 28.5 metres from 80 km/h, setting the benchmark in the test field. The tyre can be driven absolutely safely and easily on the wet handling course. The cornering forces remain stable and predictable even in very wet conditions. Handling on wet roads provides a safe driving experience with good feedback. The aquaplaning properties show slight weaknesses with a floating speed of 74.0 km/h. Stability when changing lanes is maintained even in heavy rain. The deceleration values on wet asphalt are above average. Control in critical situations is maintained at all times.

In the ADAC test, the tyre achieved a grade of 1.7 for wet grip.

The ÖAMTC confirmed the tyre's excellent wet grip with an overall grade of 1.7.

In the Auto Bild test, the tyre received a grade of 2 for handling and 1- for braking.

Dry handling

On dry roads, the PremiumContact 7 shows exemplary handling. The braking distance from 100 km/h is only 35.4 metres, setting the best mark in the test. The cornering forces remain stable even with a dynamic driving style. Feedback on the road surface is precise and informative. The tyre shows excellent stability when changing lanes and during fast evasive manoeuvres. The cornering stability is impressive, with precision and high safety reserves. The steering response is direct and conveys a sense of safety. The driving stability is maintained even at higher speeds. The steering precision allows for precise control in all driving situations.

In the ADAC test, the dry performance was rated 1.6.

The ÖAMTC also gave the dry handling a grade of 1.6.

Auto Bild gave the handling a 2+, the cornering a 1- and the braking performance a 1-.

Cost-effectiveness

The PremiumContact 7 impresses with its good cost-effectiveness. The predicted mileage is an impressive 60,300 kilometres. At 60.1 mg/km/t, tyre abrasion is very low, which minimises environmental pollution. The tyre weight of 10.1 kg is at the upper end of the test field. Fuel consumption is 5.9 l/100 km. The long durability makes the tyre economical in long-term use. The rubber compound was specially developed for high wear resistance. The even wear ensures a long service life. Efficiency is only slightly limited by the higher weight.

In the ADAC test, the tyre achieved the top mark of 1.0 for mileage.

The ÖAMTC confirmed the excellent efficiency with a grade of 2.6.

The rolling resistance and mileage were each awarded a grade of 2 in the Auto Bild test.

Noise development

The Continental PremiumContact 7 demonstrates balanced noise behaviour in everyday driving. The measured pass-by noise is 71.3 dB(A). The interior acoustics remain at a pleasant level even at higher speeds. The frequency distribution of the rolling noise has been well balanced. The noise level remains constant even on different road surfaces. The harmonious coordination of the tread elements prevents disturbing resonances. The vibration damping contributes to the good driving comfort.

In the ADAC test, the noise level was rated 2.7.

The Austrian motoring organisation ÖAMTC also gave the noise level a grade of 2.7.

In the Auto Bild test, both the rolling comfort and the pass-by noise were given a grade of 2-.

Value for money

The Continental PremiumContact 7 is positioned in the upper price segment. The excellent performance on dry and wet roads justifies the price positioning. The very good mileage and low wear contribute to the positive overall balance. The quality of the materials used is reflected in the longevity. The innovative technology justifies the premium positioning. The overall economy is convincing despite the higher initial costs. The savings in fuel consumption partially compensate for the purchase price.
