BMW 7 series is the German cars of a representative class which production began in 1977. In the fall of 2015 the sixth generation of the model went on sale. Assembling of a car is carried out mainly at the plant in Dingolfing, Germany.

The presentation of the serial BMW E23 model took place in 1977. The car was released till 1982. The car dominated the automobile market of Europe and pressed the models of the similar class from Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar.

BMW 7 series is the car equipped with all options available at that time: climate control, Check Control indicator, on-board computer, ABS system and others.

In 1982 BMW cars of 7 series received the updated design of a cowl cap and radiator grill. The producer improved a dashboard, and also transferred some elements of steering to more convenient places.

The second generation of BMW 7 series was presented in 1986. High level of comfort in the interior was provided with an effective noise isolation, two-zonal climate control with possibility of recirculation of air and a two-regime adjustable suspender.

The arrangement of all switches and various elements of an interior underwent essential changes according to the requirements of ergonomics. Since 1989 the list of the additional equipment of model was replenished with phone and the refrigerator for drinks.

In 1993 the company presented a prototype of the third generation of BMW 7 series at the Frankfurt showroom. The mass production began the next year. Release of limited number of cars with easy booking was carried out.

For an inner trim wood of valuable breeds and leather of excellent quality were used. The car in a basic set was equipped with adjustable climate control, Hi-Fi audio system, the on-board computer and system of navigation. The car was produced till 1998.

In 1998 the car received new optics, new design of a radiator grill, and the boot lid was equipped with the electric drive.

In 2001 the company presented a concept of the fourth generation of BMW 7 series in Munich, and in 2 months the serial model officially debuted at the Frankfurt showroom. Production of this car proceeded till 2008.

The main feature of the car was the iDrive system allowing to steer the additional equipment. The handbrake was controlled by electronics, and the gear shift was carried out by keys on a steering tube.

In 2005 the company made essential changes of the car design. The form of the car became more streamline and the list of available options of colouring of a body extended.

In 2008 the company presented the fifth generation of BMW of 7 series at the Parisian showroom. Application of aluminum alloys in the body elements arrangement reduced car weight.

The basic set included chairs with massage function, four-zonal climate control and xenon optics with the built-in washers.

In 2012 the producer changed spoiler and radiator grill design. Also the front LED optics was replaced. The car received the improved navigation system and the new multiple-purpose display with possibility of display of three-dimensional graphics.

The producer presented the sixth generation of BMW cars of 7 series in 2015 at the Frankfurt showroom. The car became the owner of "A gold wheel" award from the German magazine Auto Bild.

The car received laser headlights, touch steering of iDrive system and the composite body which significantly reduced the mass of the car. Function of an automatic parking is provided in a basic set.
