Honda CR-VProduction of Honda CR-V crossovers started in 1995 and is still in process. Manufacturing was established in Japan, the UK, Thailand, Korea, China, Mexico, the USA and Philippines.
Honda CR-V 1995-2007Honda CR-V debuted in 1995. Exterior distinctive features were massive side plates and bumper covers, railings on roof and wide headlights. It had capacity of four passengers. Very soon the car became very popular and in 1999 manufacturer presented facelift model with few exterior and interior changes.
Second generation of Honda CR-V appeared in 2001 and had renewed comfortable interior. Second seats row could be folded, making luggage compartment twice bigger. There were two configurations on market: Performa and Fullmark. In basic configuration there were air-conditioner, audio system with CD-player, stamped wheels and plastic exterior details.
Restyling of second generation took place in 2004, as a result of it cars got a new radiator grille, stylish bumpers, improved headlights; new configuration without railings on roof appeared.
Honda CR-V 2007-2012Sales of third generation Honda CR-V started in 2006. The exterior became unrecognizable: developers installed new headlights, wide radiator grill on massive bumper. Body design also changed – sharp lines were replaced by smooth ones.
Changes also affected interior – wide comfortable seats appeared. Developers preferred new quality materials, used much aluminum for decorations and replaced dashboard.
Production of restyled third generation Honda CR-V started in 2010. Cars got new bumpers and radiator grills. In addition, headlights design changed. Some minor but important changes affected interior: sound insulation improved, gauges became more clearly readable and switches and buttons were moved closely to driver.
Honda CR-V IV generationThe concept of fourth generation was presented on Orange County International Auto Show in Anaheim CA in Sep. 2011. That year CR-V ready for production version was presented during Los Angeles Motor Show.
Honda CR-V fundamentally differed by the brand new exterior. Huge radiator grille was changed with an elegant compact one, moved slightly under headlights. Bumpers became smaller; new upgraded optics was installed.
Changes also affected the interior. Dashboard got a new easy-to-read speedometer gauge and a trip computer. A driver could easily read information from all the displays in any weather conditions. Buttons controlling the headlight washer, parktronic, boot lid, CMBS (Collision Mitigating Brake System) were conveniently sited.
Honda CR-V IV generation faceliftIn 2015, fourth generation was restyled. Developers transformed front car part beyond recognition, installing new radiator grille and stylish headlights. Rear part was also changed; taillights were moved and put aside the fifth door. Interior was changed slightly; new upholstery materials were used.
