Land Rover FreelanderLand Rover Freelander cars were being produced from 1997 until 2014. Cars were assembled in Great Britain, Thailand, India, China and Jordan.
Land Rover Freelander I generationThe Land Rover Freelander I generation vehicles were produced from 1997 until 2006. The car debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Despite its compactness, the car had a massive rear bumper. A windshield was placed at a relatively large angle to a hood.
Wheel arches were made from black plastic and visually were an extension of the rear and front bumpers.
Railings were placed on a roof and a spare wheel was put by designers on a rear door.
High-quality materials were used for interior trimming. There were round indicators at the dashboard, radio and air-conditioner control buttons were placed on a central console.
That generation was available in such body types as a three-door crossover with a soft or hard top and a five-door crossover.
Land Rover Freelander I generation restylingIn 2003 engineers altered the Land Rover Freelander I generation vehicles. As the bumper was enlarged, the front body part became more massive.
Changes affected the form of the radiator grille and headlights, lenses of the latter were divided into two parts. The rear bumper was also modified due to the mounted stop lights.
The interior was left unchanged.
Land Rover Freelander Ⅱ generationThe second generation of Land Rover Freelander was produced from 2006 until 2010. The presentation of the car was arranged at the London Auto Show.
Developers made a few changes to the exterior: a front body part remained as massive as it was before, however forms of the bumper and radiator grille became more stylish. Fog lights were installed into the front bumper. Impressive swaging lines appeared at the bottom of side doors. As to the rear part of the body, there changes affected only the shape of lamp-clusters.
The manufacturer slightly altered the interior part: the location of indicators on the dashboard was changed; new functions were added to the central console. Developers also modified the form of the gearbox lever.
Land Rover Freelander Ⅱ generation restylingIn 2010 manufacturers held the restyling of the Land Rover Freelander II generation vehicles. Visually the car became even more bulky. Engineers also changed the form of the bumper and radiator grille.
In 2012 another modification of the car model was performed. Headlights and rear lights got a new form. Car makers considerably modified the car. Control buttons were placed on a steering wheel. The dashboard became a little bit smaller, the display was put on the central console, chromed-plated trimming of handles and buttons was added as well. Interior door panels were decorated with stylish plastic inserts.
Land Rover Freelander in the markets of various countriesIn some countries the Land Rover Freelander of the second generation was sold under the name Land Rover Freelander 2. It was also manufactured under the name Land Rover LR2.
