Mercedes-Benz CLK Class is a car of executive class which released from 1997 to 2010. The design of the model was based on an exterior of previous Mercedes-Benz C class. The name of the model is deciphered from German as "a light compact coupe".

The first generation of Mercedes-Benz CLK Class was presented in 1997. The car was released in two bodies: coupe and cabriolet. Cars differed in the effective optics divided into two parts by the radiator grille, the chrome plated elements and stylish design of bumpers.

In 1999 designers carried out small face lifting to separate from the Mercedes-Benz S-class model. The model had the updated nose, and also the interior was changed greatly.

In 2000 motorists saw Mercedes-Benz CLK Class 55 AMG modification. The exterior of modification became sportier, and improved stability control systems and parking assistant were added to options.

In 2002 developers carried out full reconstruction of the model. As before, it was available in two bodies, but technical characteristics were considerably improved.

Along with the presentation of new generation, production of two expensive packages under the name "Elegance" and "Avantgarde" started. The dashboard in these packages was made of nut tree with aluminum inserts. One year later there was a "Sport" package with stylized exhaust system, a sport steering wheel and 19-inch disks.

The second generation of the model had an electronic speed limit in 217 km/h. Also stability control systems and anti-lock braking system were considerably improved.

In 2004 restyling of the model of the second generation took place. Basic elements of design were borrowed from Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. The car had the increased wheel base, a spoiler, carboxylic inserts and the improved control of driving at high speeds. Also special sport modification of the model under the name Mercedes-Benz CLK Class DTM AMG was presented.

In 2005 the design of the car was changed slightly. The updated head lights, front and back bumpers were set on the car, the radiator grille was enlarged and body tuning shape was improved.

In 2010 release of Mercedes-Benz CLK Class was stopped.
