Peugeot 508 production started in 2010 and is ongoing. The car is presented on the market in sedan and station wagon variations. Production lines are situated in Rennes, France and Wuhan, China.

The first generation of Peugeot 508 has been presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2010 - a sedan, in 2011 - as a station wagon.

The cars were built on the PF3 platform, which was also used to create the 2nd generation Citroen C5. A distinctive feature of the Peugeot 508 was its lightweight body - unladen, the car’s weight peaks at only 1 500 kg. This feature has been achieved due to the use of advanced sound-absorbing materials, magnesium elements in the body structure and an integral luggage compartment lid, one side of which was plastic.

High-quality materials were used for the salon upholstery. The dashboard is made of soft plastic, it was informative and easy to read. A feature of Peugeot 508 is a small retractable display, which doubled as a speedometer, navigation and cruise control.

The developers have paid great attention to safety. The car’s systems automatically switch the light from the far to the near when approaching an incoming vehicle. Also, cars were fitted with 3-speed rotating headlights that swiveled in the direction of the maneuver.

As part of the first generation, the company introduced the Peugeot 508 RXH crossover at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The machine was equipped with a hybrid power plant and had an impressive design.

In 2014, a restyling of the Peugeot 508 took place. Only the updated sedan is available to motorists worldwide. The main changes concerned the exterior optics. New three-zone headlights were installed and elongated tail lights, each of which consisted of 36 diodes, were placed in three rows. A slight redesign touched the front bumper and the radiator grille.

The seats are more ergonomic and comfortable due to the use of new materials and better quality seams. The number of buttons on the center console was considerably reduced due to the installation of a new 7-inch touch display.

The number of options included: an keyless access control system, color rear view camera, an electromechanical parking brake and a blind spot detection system.
