The Renault Grand Scenic minivan is released by the French company since 2004 till present. The car is constructed on the basis of a Renault Scenic minivan and has the similar technical characteristics and design. In total two generations of model and three restylings have been presented. Release of a car was carried out in the city of Douai, France. In 2016 the premiere of the third generation of Renault Grand Scenic took place.

In 2003 on the extended base of five-seater Renault Scenic the seven-seater minivan which received the name Renault Grand Scenic has been constructed. The car had larger sizes and got an additional row of seats. Producers managed to keep the general proportions and the specific design which was completely borrowed from Renault Scenic: the same big headlights, the tightened lines, the allocated wheel arches and a reserved interior. The return inclination of a rear pillar increased visibility. In an inner trim qualitative materials were used: leather, fabric and soft plastic. Instead of the handle of the hand brake there was the corresponding key on the dashboard that has allowed getting free space between driver seats and the front passenger. Renault Grand Scenic cars of the first generation had a rich complete set. Basic equipment of model included the ABS and Brake Assist system, tire pressure sensors, the monitoring system of a straight-line stability and so forth.

In 2006 Renault Grand Scenic cars have undergone restyling. The radiator grille form was changed, the bumper became massive, and side mouldings and a rear bumper were painted in a colour of the body. The front optics has been increased in sizes.

The second generation of the model has been presented in 2009 at the Geneva motor show and was produced till 2012. The design of the car has been considerably updated. Lines of a body became more dynamic, and the front part looked massive in comparison with the previous generation. It became easier to distinguish the Renault Grand Scenic models from Renault Scenic cars in the second generation: in seven-seater cars the edge of the tail lights in the form of a boomerang transformed from a rear pillar into fenders, and in the Renault Scenic models — into a door. The car interior became even more convenient: there were new options of seats transformation, sliding little tables, additional tanks and containers for trifles. The dashboard was updated. In different complete sets , Renault Grand Scenic cars were equipped with power windows, heating of seats, the sensor of light and a rain, a cruise control system, the ABS, EBD, ESP systems, six airbags and modern CD/the MP3 audio system.

Restyling of the second generation of Renault Grand Scenic has been carried out in 2012. The form of head lights and the radiator grille has been changed, in an exterior there were chrome plated elements. Prompt lines were effectively emphasized with the side mouldings narrowed to the rear part which were also trimmed with the chrome strips. New panels of compartment colouring were offered. LED inserts appeared in head lights. In 2013 the exterior of cars has been updated again. Minor changes have concerned the radiator grille and a bumper.
