Škoda Fabia
Release of Škoda Fabia started in 1999 and continues nowadays. To date three generations of the model and two restylings have been presented. In different years these cars have been assembled in Poland, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, India and Russia. Production of Škoda Fabia of the last generation is carried out in the Czech Republic.
Škoda Fabia 6Y
Škoda Fabia cars debuted at the Frankfurt motor show of 1999 in a body of a five-door hatchback. The five-door Škoda Fabia Combi station wagon was presented at the Paris motor show in 2000. In 2001 at the motor show in Geneva Škoda Fabia in a sedan body was presented.
The car was constructed on the VW A04 platform and was a successor of Škoda Felicia. The car had a modern design. The smooth lines of the body were perfectly combined with a slanted hood and trapezoid headlights. The chrome-plated radiator grille had a rectangular shape. The passenger compartment of Škoda Fabia differed in comfort and roominess. The driver's seat was height-adjustable. In expensive packages the interior was executed in light tones and was decorated with chrome elements.
Cars could be equipped with central lock, climate control, power windows, heated seats, conditioned compartments for storage of soft drinks. Cars of the first generation were produced till 2004.
Škoda Fabia 6Y restyling
Restyling of Škoda Fabia 6Y was presented at the Paris motor show in 2004. The exterior of the car was changed slightly: there was a new bumper with air inlet, back lights were modernized. The design of fog lights, discs and wheel caps was updated. In the passenger compartment the new four-spoke steering wheel appeared. The dashboard was made out of soft plastic, pleasant to the touch. On the basis of the station wagon, Škoda Fabia Praktik van was constructed.
Škoda Fabia 5J
The official premiere of the second generation of Škoda Fabia took place at the Geneva motor show in 2007. The car was stylish and modern. The body became more streamlined. The V-shaped decorative element on the bonnet smoothly descended to the bumper. Large headlights perfectly matched the radiator grille in the form of a trapeze. Front and central pillars of the body were painted black, and back pillars had colour of the body. The roof seemed to be supported by the back pillars only. Mirror housings were painted in 2 colours. Due to increased dimensions of the car, the passenger compartment became more spacious. The dashboard and the central console differed in simplicity and functionality. To make the interior less austere, it was possible to order bright upholstery of seats or two-colour trimming of passenger compartment. The sedan was not produced any more. Cars of the second generation were released till 2010.
Škoda Fabia 5J restyling
In 2010 restyling of Škoda Fabia 5J took place. Fog lights, radiator grille, the front bumper and air inlets were renewed. There were new variants of body colouring. Dashboard instrument illumination became blue instead of green, a new steering wheel appeared.
Škoda Fabia SK260
In 2014 at the motor show in Paris the third generation of Škoda Fabia cars debuted. The design of the updated cars was borrowed from the Škoda Vision C concept car, presented for the first time at the motor show in Geneva in 2014. The car was sporty and futuristic-looking. Thanks to sharp lines and expressive decorative unit, the outline of the body resembled a crystal. The car became lower and wider than the predecessor.
Release of cars of the third generation is carried out nowadays.
