Škoda Yeti
Production of the five-door Škoda Yeti crossovers started in 2009. To date, the company has presented one generation and one restyling of the car on the market. Assembling of cars was organized at a plant in the city of Kvasiny, Czech Republic. In 2009 the English magazine "Top Gear" called Škoda Yeti the family car of the year. In 2010 Škoda Yeti was called the car of the year by Auto Express and Offroad Magazine.
Škoda Yeti I generation
In 2005 within the Geneva motor show the concept of Škoda Yeti I — the blue ORV - was unveiled. The same year at the international automobile exhibition in Frankfurt the second concept — Škoda Yeti II of orange colour in a cabriolet body - debuted. The stock car was presented at the Geneva motor show in March, 2009.
Škoda Yeti cars were constructed on the Volkswagen A5 platform in the PQ35 version. Thanks to the compact dimensions, the car showed excellent maneuverability in the city: its length was 4223 mm, height — 1691 mm, width — 1793 mm. The exterior of the car draws attention by a large bumper, stylish radiator grille and four headlights; two of them are equipped with cornering modules. The combination of optics of different shapes provided the unique and memorable design to the car. Wide wheel arches, plastic protective covers on footboards, wide rear bumper evidenced the endurance of Škoda Yeti.
The five-seater passenger compartment of Škoda Yeti was practical and comfortable. Inside it designers installed seats with lateral support and adjustment of lumbar part. Thanks to the VarioFlex system each of three seats of the back row could be adjusted and transformed separately, increasing the volume of the luggage compartment to 1760 l.
Škoda Yeti showed excellent result in the course of Euro NCAP crash tests, so it had the highest award — five stars. The producer equipped the car with ESP course stability system, EDS electronic differential lock system, the ABS anti-lock brake system, EBV brake force distribution system, nine airbags, including a knee air bag for the driver.
Škoda Yeti I generation restyling
In September, 2013, at the Frankfurt motor show the updated Škoda Yeti was presented. As a result of restyling, two modifications appeared on the market. The City Škoda Yeti had the bumpers and protective moldings painted in body colour. The exterior of Škoda Yeti Outdoor, intended for driving on off road terrain, had a protective plate contrasting with colour of the body, and the large decorative panel on the front bumper.
Changes affected the forefront of Škoda Yeti mainly. It got new headlights, and rectangular fog lights integrated into the front bumper. The radiator grille was changed slightly, and the hood was decorated with an updated logo of the producer.
Škoda Yeti of the second generation was the first car of the company that had the rear-view camera. It would activated in reverse gear.
Škoda Yeti in the markets of the different countries
Special modification of Škoda Yeti was produced for Chinese People's Republic. It differed from the European car in the wheel base extended by 60 mm and the spare wheel placed on the back door.
