Suzuki Super CarrySuzuki Super Carry cars were made between 1985 and 1999. The cars were assembled in Japan and Indonesia.
The history of creating Suzuki Super CarrySuzuki Super Carry is the export name of the eighth generation of Suzuki Carry, an iconic model of the Japanese brand. The cars were made in pickup, van and minibus versions. The features of the car exterior were steel square headlights framed by black plastic, shortened outline of the hood and a protruding front bumper with fog lights on it.
The car had compact dimensions. The wheelbase was 1,840 mm. Depending on the body, the curb weight ranged between 600 and 780 kg. This improved maneuverability and controllability of the car, and made it optimal for urban environment.
Despite its small size, the passenger compartment was spacious and ergonomic. Additional options were an air conditioner, front power windows, and an audio system. Besides the driver's seat, passenger seats were equipped with optional head rests. Cars of the latest model years also were fitted with power steering and anti-lock brake system (ABS).
Suzuki Super Carry in the markets of various countriesIn some European markets, particularly in the UK, the Suzuki Super Carry model was called Bedford Rascal (from 1990 on, it was called Vauxhall Rascal). The Bedford Rascal was made in cooperation with General Motors and Suzuki Motor Corporation. These cars were sold both as Bedford and Suzuki.
Bedford Rascal was sold from 1986 to 1994. Van payload was 550 kg, and pickup payload was 575 kg. The main difference between the British and Japanese-made cars was the design of the body front. In 1993, Bedford Rascal manufacturing was moved from the UK to Japan, where it continued until 1999.
In the markets of the continental Europe, the model was known as GME Rascal. These cars were assembled at the General Motors factory in Luton.
In Australia, the cars were called Suzuki Super Carry and Holden Scurry. Unlike Suzuki Super Carry, the Holden Scurry cars were not available in the pickup version.
In South Korea, the vans were called Daewoo Damas, and pickups - Daewoo Labo. In the Japanese domestic market, passenger cars were called Suzuki Every.
In India, the cars are still manufactured as Maruti Omni.
