Toyota Hilux is a popular pickup which the Japanese company releases from 1968 to today. This car became a basis for creation of the Toyota 4Runner and Toyota Hilux Surf models. Production of the car is arranged in Japan and Thailand.

Toyota Hilux N10 model was presented to public in 1968. It was based on the Toyota N platform and used the same technologies, as Toyota Land Cruiser, but had smaller dimensions.

The car was available only in a body of the pickup with the standard and long wheel base. For the American market front wheel drive modification with the shortened wheel base was also offered.

In 1972 there was the second generation of Toyota Hilux N20. Developers considerably improved an exterior of the car and its technical capabilities.

The next generation of the model was released in 1978. Toyota Hilux N30/N40 cars differed in smoothed body styles. The front bumper had single headlights, the metal radiator grille and the reduced hood. Also the new body — the 4-door pickup with four seats - was presented to motorists.

The fourth generation of Toyota Hilux N50/N60/N70 was available for free sale in 1983. Developers have considerably increased the power of engines of all modifications and have changed an exterior of front part of a body. The car had rectangular head lights and the plastic radiator grille. Also independent suspension was set and the design of differentials was changed to increase controllability of the car. Production of the car started in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay.

The fifth generation of Toyota Hilux the real furor. Release of the updated model began in 1988, and at once the automobile magazine "Motor Trend" awarded the car with the "Truck of Year" title. Production of the model extended considerably. Now the car was released at the plants in Argentina, the USA, Colombia, Philippines, New Zealand and Germany. The car differed in the improved design and new engines.

The sixth generation of Toyota Hilux was oriented to the markets of South America and Thailand. The car had more rounded shapes. Besides, the front part of a body was changed a little: the trapezoid radiator grille was installed, the bumper was enlarged and the shape of position lights was changed.

In 2004 the seventh generation of Toyota Hilux was presented. It became the part of the global IMV project. The model was released as a 2-and the 4-door pickup. The geography of production of the car was extended. Now Toyota Hilux cars began to be manufactured in Pakistan, South Africa and Venezuela.

The car had the updated modern body. New headlights, both bumpers, the radiator grille, rear-view mirrors were set on the car.

Special modification became popular as a patrol car of police in Singapore and Pakistan.

In 2008 the developers added a protective arch and stylized the front part of a body a little.

The second restyling took place in 2011, the car interior was redesigned considerably, the shape of the radiator grille and rear position lights was changed.

The eighth generation of Toyota Hilux was officially presented in Australia and Thailand in 2015. Developers used style of design "Keen Look" therefore the exterior of the car was changed cardinally. Oblong head lights, the metal radiator grille and the enlarged bumper were the specific features of this style. Safety Level of the driver and passengers was considerably increased.
