Mazda B-Series
Production of Mazda B-Series cars was organized from 1961 to 2006 at the plants in Japan, New Zealand, Colombia, Iran, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.
Mazda B-Series 1965–1977
Production of the first generation of Mazda B-Series was carried out from 1961 to 1965. The car was produced in van, chassis and pickup bodies. The cabin of the pickup could accommodate one or two rows of seats. In 1965 the company presented the second generation of Mazda B-Series. The car was released in a two-door pickup body.
Mazda B-Series PE/UC/UD
In 1977 the producer arranged production of the third generation of the model — the Mazda B-Series PE car. The car had the electronic dashboard. The model with the extended wheelbase was called Mazda B-Series UC. Since 1981 a diesel modification under the name Mazda B-Series UD began to be manufactured.
Mazda B-Series UF
Production of Mazda B-Series UF was organized from 1985 to 1998. The model of the fourth generation was released in a four-door van, and also two-door and four-door pickup bodies. The front wheel drive was a distinctive feature of the car. Also the car had a high level of comfort in comparison with pickups of other brands.
As additional options, air conditioner, cruise control, power steering, central lock, audio system with an equalizer were offered. Also for an additional payment there was an opportunity to order a chrome plating of different elements of exterior and interior of the car.
Mazda B-Series UN/MJ
In 1998 the company began to produce the fifth generation of Mazda B-Series. Cars were produced in the bodies of a five-door van, four-door and two-door pickups, and the two-door pickups with a double cabin.
Since 2002, production of four-door pickups with the rear-hinged rear doors began (freestyle doors, suicide doors). The car under different names was on sale more than in 130 countries of the world. Production of the model was completely stopped only in 2006.
Mazda B-Series in the markets of the different countries
In domestic market of Japan, the car was known under the name of Mazda Proceed. Also the car was sold under the names Mazda Bounty in New Zealand and Mazda Bravo in Australia. In Thailand the car was sold under the names Mazda Thunder, Mazda Fighter and Mazda Magnum. In the Republic of South Africa the car is known under the name of Mazda Drifter. Also the model was on sale under the names Ford Ranger and Ford Courier.
