I.: Hello,
I bought this brake pad kit (1896Q) and brake pads (402B1341) in October. When I removed the old pads they were identical to the ones I bought from you but there was no old fitting kit on the calipers, the old pads fitted directly into the caliper. I thought this was strange, surely the stainless spring clips on the pads don't slide on the steel caliper which can rust. I installed the fitting kit but the pads would not also install into the caliper, there wasn't enough room for both.
i have since emailed Mazda and they say there should be a stainless steel fitting kit to allow the pads to move in and out without binding on a rusty surface. Have i bought the wrong pads or should I try fitting again, this time squeezing the spring clips that are attached to the brake pad to try and get them to fit ?
