Chevrolet CaptivaThe Chevrolet Captiva compact crossover is produced since 2006 in the five-seater and seven-seater versions. The assembly is carried out in factories in South Korea, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Vietnam and China. According to the Euro NCAP crash test results, passed in 2011, the Chevrolet Captiva has received five stars.
Chevrolet Captiva I generationIn the early 2000s, the General Motors concern felt the need for a crossover, affordable for middle class customers, which could seriously compete with similar European and Japanese vehicles. The Daewoo company, which joined the GM, appeared to have suitable developments, and in 2004 in Paris a concept car called the Chevrolet S3X was presented. After two years of improvements and enhancements the production version of Chevrolet Captiva was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show.
By the exterior the Chevrolet Captiva cars are very similar to the popular representatives of their class, which was conceived by the designers with the aim to cause a subconscious positive reaction of customers. Though there was room in the crossover appearance for customized solutions: triangular grids of air intakes at the junction of the wings and the front doors, original forms of turn repeaters on the outside mirrors, an unusual location of fog lamps.
The car interior is spacious and comfortable, trimmed with quality materials. A number of compartments and pockets is provided to store small things, the glove box has a cooling function. Passenger and driver's seats have a wide range of adjustment, a large four spoke steering wheel adjustable for height and tilt. The outstanding design of the instrument panel: variegated round dials come over on each other. The luggage compartment volume of 400 liters increases to 1565 liters by folding the rear seats, an opening glass is provided for easy loading into the rear tailgate.
Chevrolet Captiva I generation restylingIn 2011, Chevrolet Captiva underwent serious restyling that affected the exterior and interior, and brought significant technical improvements. The front part of the vehicle began to look quite differently with a pointed hood, a more streamlined bumper, a huge grille, an interesting shape of headlamps and integrated in the bumper fog lights. As for the rear, changes affected only lights.
The car interior became even more functional and comfortable: the seats got an enhanced lateral support, a liquid crystal display was located on the front panel of a custom shape. The mechanical parking brake was replaced by an electric one, which allowed to establish an additional compartment for storing small things between the front seats. Even standard Chevrolet Captiva cars were equipped with full power accessories.
In 2013, at the Geneva Motor Show the Chevrolet Captiva model was presented after the second restyling. changes in the car exterior could not be called radical: a grille, bumpers and lights acquired a more modern look. The cabin received only minor changes as well: a new design of the steering wheel and higher quality materials.
Chevrolet Captiva in other marketsUntil 2011, in the South Korean market the crossover was sold under the name Daewoo Winstorm, in Australia and New Zealand - Holden Captiva. After the first restyling of the model its name it was unified.
