Hybrid Honda CR-Z car production started in 2010 and is still in process. Manufacturing was established in Japan. Honda CR-Z was awarded “Car of the year” in Japan, in 2010; “Good Design Award”, from Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization; and “Green Car of the Year” in the UK.

On the 23rd of October 2007, Compact Renaissance Zero concept was presented on Tokyo Motor Show. A car intended for a mass production debuted on Detroit Motor Show in 2010. That year car for European market was presented on Motor Show in Geneva. Presented version was 3-door hatchback.

A main specialty of Honda CR-Z was a hybrid power plant, which consisted of powerful petrol engine and Integrated Motor Assist system. Exterior had recognizable distinctive features of the brand: hood smoothly blended to windshield and divided an aperture of a rear windshield. Front part of the car was decorated with narrow stylish headlights, compact bumper and deeply mounted in the body kit fog lights.

Sport spirit of Honda CR-Z was expressed in its interior. Developers mounted all the gauges and gear selector in accordance with a low driver’s seating. There were three buttons on the dashboard, with the help of which next driving modes could be selected: Normal, Economy or Sport. Each of them provided different throttle angles, steering wheel force, brakes system reaction and power plant output. Each mode activation came with a special light: blue, green or red.

Cars with four seats were sold on European and Asian markets. Seats in the second row were narrow and space for legs was limited. Honda CR-Z was presented as two-seat coupe on American market.

On Paris Motor Show in 2012, restyled first generation of Honda CR-Z debuted. The production started next year. Exterior slightly changed. Developers installed a new radiator grille and upgraded headlights with LED sections at the bottom part. Niches for fog lights were reworked; they became larger. Interior changes affected only the dashboard. In basic configuration there were cruise-control, climate-control, HandsFreeLink function, expanded side mirrors and rear view camera.
