Honda CR-X is a compact car in hatchback or targa version. Its manufacturing started in 1983 and ended in 1998 in Japan. During this period three generations of CR-X were presented.

I generation of Honda CR-X was presented in 1983. On European and Asian markets two-door hatchbacks were presented. Developers created a sophisticated suspension system: front axle got torsion beam, rear – semi-independent suspension. This provided excellent driving performance.

Second generation of Honda CR-X cars was presented on market in 1987. Suspension system was totally changed: front axle got double wishbone suspension and rear got independent suspension with five links.

Distinctive feature of CR-X was engine with VTEC system (Variable Valve Timing And lift Electronic Control), which changed the time and height of valve opening. This provides maximum economy and capacity to car.

Honda CR-X II Generation got a new front bumper, bonnet and headlights. Brakes were changed also, along with the dashboard inside. Glass roof was offered as exclusive option.

Sales of third generation started in 1992. Apart of two-door hatchback manufacturer presented a new model in targa version. They were built on the base of Honda Civic platform.

In maximum configuration (ESi) the next equipment was included: power side mirrors, cruise control, 14-inch alloy wheels, disc rear brakes, front stabilizer bar. Additional options were a rear spoiler, an air-conditioner, floor mats and «Trans Top» system, which folded car roof in a trunk with a single button press. In 1998 car production ended.

Honda CR-X cars with targa body were sold on different markets under the name of Honda Civic Del Sol. Also, second generation was sold on European market as Honda Civic CRX and the third – as Honda Civic Del Sol.
