The production of Peugeot 2008 CUV started in 2013 and has been continued till present time. The cars are produced in France, China and Brazil.

The appearance of the model was preceded by the presentation of four different concepts: HR1 in Paris (2010), SXC in Shanghai (2011), Urban Crossover in Beijing (2012) and the Peugeot 2008 concept car at Paris Motor Show (2012). Presentation of the series model was held in Geneva in the spring of 2013.

The model was based on the Peugeot 208 model. The distinctive features of Peugeot 2008 cars exterior were: smoothed corners of the bumpers, narrower headlights, longitudinal roof racks and black framing around the side mirrors. The grille has been divided into two sections: the upper one was covered with chrome and the sides of the bottom section had stylish niches for fog lamps.

The manufacturer has equipped the car with the Grip Control traction control system, which provided the ability to disable the ESP module and had some special modes for different types of road surface.

Power steering, high-quality audio system and fabric upholstery of the seats have been included to the basic car equipment. There have been many special compartments and pockets for storing small items inside the car cabin. Folding rear seats allowed increasing the trunk volume in almost 3 times (from 360 to 1172 liters), if it is necessary.

In addition, the panoramic sunroof could have been ordered, also just as car multimedia system with touch screen, dual-zone climate control, navigation system, leather trim of a steering wheel and seats.

The manufacturer succeeded in making a model environmentally safe. Peugeot 2008 motors have corresponded to the Euro 5 ecological standards. Diesel power unit modifications has been equipped with the intelligent system of "stop-start" which allows reducing the engine running time under no-load conditions.
