Distinctive features
- Reliable braking systems. Even the first Triumph models were fitted with brake shoes inside the drums, allowing for more effective braking and extending the parts’ service life. The 10/20 model was the first mass-produced British car equipped with a hydraulic braking system.
- Good dynamics. For example, the Roadster - first produced in 1948 - had a top speed of 124 km/h (77 mi/h) and accelerated to 100 km/h (62 mi/h) in 27.9 seconds. The TR2, which was first released in 1952 had a top speed of 193 km/h (120 mi/h).
- Affordable prices. Despite good driving performance, Triumph cars were relatively inexpensive to buy, as was their maintenance.
- Attractive design. The design of Triumph models always suited the style of the era. For example, earlier models were characterized by protruding wheel arches, numerous curves and smooth lines. While the bodies of the later models were extended and their outlines became more angular.
