Volkswagen Touareg is an executive class crossover produced since 2002 till present. The model was named after the Tuareg people in Africa, who live in the territory of the Sahara Desert. The car is manufactured at the Volkswagen plant in Bratislava, Slovakia only.
Volkswagen Touareg І generation
Volkswagen Touareg is a joint project of automobile producers Volkswagen Group, Audi and Porsche. The main goal of this cooperation was to create a full crossover that would look like a sports car. More than 300 experts of these concerns were on the team of developers.

The car was developed with a standard and long wheel bases. The first one had five passenger seats, and the second one, seven.
In Volkswagen Touareg cars the majority of options were meant to provide maximum comfort when driving off road. The adaptive air suspension and automatically locking centre differential considerably improve stability of the vehicle.
The Volkswagen Touareg model received the following awards and titles:
- "The Best Crossover In Executive Class" from the Car and Driver magazine in 2003;
