If installation is done acc.to wiring instructions, then car foglight won't work unless a trailer is connected. There seems to be a requirement that car rear foglight should be off if trailer foglight is on. But this requires some circuitry in the connector to detect when trialer is connected or not, which this connector doesn't provide. Other connectors provide a microswich in connector which handles this.
