Daihatsu Extol cars are vans that have been manufactured from 1999 to 2004. The production lines were located in Japan.

The Daihatsu Extol model was manufactured on the base of the eight generation of Daihatsu Hijet. The cars were produced in minivan and van bodies. The body of the car received streamline forms, which improved its aerodynamics. The exterior featured a wide windshield angle, a shortened hood and a massive front bumper. Chromium elements were installed on the hood.

One of the main advantages of the minivan was its ergonomic seven-seat passenger compartment, which led to an increase in demand for these cars. The collapsible construction of the rear seats allowed to adjust the volume of the trunk. A sliding side door simplified embarkment for rear seats passengers.

The basic package included tinted windows, a central locking device and a hydraulic power steering system. Additional safety measures were provided by rigidity enhancements installed in the car’s doors which prevented extreme deformation in case of a crash. As an option, an ABS system was offered.

Daihatsu Extol is the ninth generation of the Daihatsu Hijet model, which has been produced since 1960 to date. The Daihatsu Extol name was employed for vehicles exported to Great Britain and South-East Asia. Passenger cars were sold in Japan as Daihatsu Atrai 7. These cars differed from Daihatsu Extol in that they had a larger bumper. The Daihatsu Atrai 7 had a spacious seven-seat passenger compartment. Daihatsu Extol were also sold under the Toyota Sparky name.
