Hyundai GalloperProduction of Hyundai Galloper ORV was arranged from 1991 to 2003. During this time the producer presented two generations of the model. Cars were manufactured in South Korea and China.
Hyundai Galloper I generationThe Hyundai company was the first Korean car maker who presented ORVs in the market. Due to the lack of own experience in designing of such cars, developers asked for the help of the Japanese colleagues. So Hyundai Galloper was designed on the basis of Mitsubishi Pajero.
The Hyundai Galloper cars of the first generation were manufactured from September, 1991 to September, 1994 in the three-door and five-door ORV body types. Cars were constructed on a powerful frame which provided necessary ruggedness when driving. Developers paid attention to the suspension: in the front part of the car there were torsion spring bars and dual levers, in the rear part there was an axle suspension with springs (diesel versions) or springs (petrol versions).
The Korean experts revealed the most vulnerable zones of the Hyundai Galloper body and strengthened them with steel blocks which were intended to absorb the blow energy. The massive radiator grill, the strengthened bumper, big head lights were the distinctive features of the exterior.
The interior was characterized by simplicity and multifunctionality. On the dashboard there were the temperature indicator, the altitude indicator and the roll indicator. It was possible to integrate the airbag into the convenient steering wheel. Developers paid attention to the development of comfortable seats which had convenient armrests.
Hyundai Galloper I generation restylingIn 1994 Hyundai Galloper model was restyled. Cars were manufactured till March, 1997. Changes affected the exterior: there was a protective arch of the front bumper and a molding on the wheel arches.
Side mirrors were restyled, the block of a headlight did not have yellow glass anymore, and round headlights were replaced by square ones.
Hyundai Galloper II generationThe second generation of Hyundai Galloper ORV was released since 1997. The presentation of the model for the European market took place in 1998 at the Geneva Motor Show. The model had new headlamp-clusters, a radiator grill and a protective arch of the front bumper (in some cars it was chrome-plated), side mirrors had the colour of the body.
The last Hyundai Galloper car was manufactured on December 3, 2003. The model was replaced by the Hyundai Terracan model.
Hyundai Galloper in the markets of the different countriesIn Germany and Spain, Hyundai Galloper was on sale as Mitsubishi Galloper, and in Brazil — as Asia Galloper. In the market of Iceland this car was known as Galloper TCI. In some markets Hyundai Galloper had also such names as Galloper Innovation, Galloper Exceed, Mitsubishi Pajero.
