Mitsubishi Grandis
Production of Mitsubishi Grandis minivans took place in 2003-2011. Assembling of cars was carried out in Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, on Philippines and Taiwan. From 2005 to 2010 this model received the Best MPV award at the International motor show in Bangkok.
History of Mitsubishi Grandis creation
The seven-seater minivan succeeded the Mitsubishi Chariot model. Cars were on sale in the markets of Japan, Asia, Europe, Oceania, Mexico, Honduras, Jamaica and South America.
The design of exterior of the car is in many respects borrowed from the concept of Mitsubishi Space Liner debuting at the Tokyo motor show in 2001. The model is designed in the corporate style of the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation company, new at the time. The minivan is distinguished from other representatives of the model range of the brand by an arched bottom edge of the radiator grille and large arrow-shaped headlights. The bonnet of the car has a decorative element in the front. Dynamism to the design of the exterior is given by the slanted line of the roof. LED lights are located on perimeter of the rear window.
16-inch discs are included in the standard package, 17-inch discs are offered as an extra option.
The Mitsubishi Grandis car was constructed on the basis of the Mitsubishi Airtrek model. The passenger compartment of the car is stylish and ergonomic. For interior trimming, quality materials are used. The interior design is rendered modern by aluminium inserts.
Seats of the second row were folded in a 40/60 proportion and had a number of adjustments. Seats of the third row could be folded into floor niches if necessary, allowing to increase the luggage compartment volume. Extra comfort was provided by a little folding table for reading. In the passenger compartment of the car there were sections for storage of small things.
When designing the Mitsubishi Grandis cars, special attention was paid to safety. The body was designed on the RISE technology (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) so extra protection in case of impact is provided. The model is equipped with the frontal and side airbags, and also side curtain air bags, pretensioners of front seatbelts and safety pedal knot. High seat of the driver provides good visibility.
The active safety systems included in the basic package were the anti-lock brake system (ABS) and brake force distribution system (EBD). The dynamic stabilization system (DSC) improving controllability of the car and allowing to keep control over car even when driving on slippery roads was an extra option.
In Japan, production of Mitsubishi Grandis came to end in 2009, and in other countries these cars were produced till 2011.
