Mitsubishi L200

Production of the compact Mitsubishi L200 pickup began in 1978 and continues to date. Assembling of cars is organized at the plants in Japan, Thailand, Brazil, the Republic of South Africa, and also on Philippines.

Mitsubishi L200 1978–2005

The Mitsubishi L200 model was created together with the Chrysler company. The car went on sale in 1978. The body of the car had a durable structure, and in the passenger compartment there was room for the driver and one passenger. Dual round headlights and a chrome plated radiator grille with large rectangular cells settled down above the large metal front bumper.

The second generation of Mitsubishi L200 went on sale at the beginning of 1986. The Japanese company developed the car on the basis of Mitsubishi L200 of the first generation. The car was produced in bodies of two-door and four-door pickup with one and three passenger seats. Also Mitsubishi L200 cars received plastic bumpers and rectangular headlights.

In 1996 the company began the production of the third generation of Mitsubishi L200. The hardware of the car considerably corresponded to other model of the company — Mitsubishi Pajero. Production of the car continued till 2005, and in Brazil the release of the car was stopped only in 2012.

In total, more than 2,8 million units of Mitsubishi L200 cars of the first, second and third generations were manufactured.

In 2005 the company presented the fourth generation of Mitsubishi L200. The car in the two-door and four-door pickup bodies was released only at the plant of the company in Thailand and was delivered to the majority of the countries of the world. The design of the car was developed under the leadership of Akinori Nakanishi.

In 2011 the producer changed the design of Mitsubishi L200. The dimensions of the cargo platform and length of the back overhang were increased. The design of the car was executed in style of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport model.

In 2013 Mitsubishi L200 got a new radiator grille, modernized front optics and updated front bumper with integrated fog lights.

Mitsubishi L200 V generation

At the end of 2014 the presentation of the fifth generation of Mitsubishi L200 took place in Los Angeles. The model went on sale at the beginning of 2015. The producer considerably improved anticorrosive protection of the car, and also body rigidity. The drag coefficient of the car was 0,42.

The car was designed on the basis of the fourth generation of the model. The basic package of Mitsubishi L200 of the fifth generation included brake force distribution system (EBD), anti-lock braking system (ABS), dynamic stabilization module (ASTC).

Production of the fourth and fifth generations of Mitsubishi L200 continues nowadays.
