Mitsubishi Lancer
Production of Mitsubishi Lancer began in 1973 and continues to nowadays. During production years, nine generations of this model were released.
Mitsubishi Lancer 1973–2007
Initially the car was created together with the Chrysler enterprise for sale in domestic market of the USA. Production of the Mitsubishi Lancer A70 model began in 1973. The car was produced in coupe, sedan and five-door station wagon bodies. In 1979 the second generation of Mitsubishi Lancer EX went on sale. On new cars, round headlights were replaced with large rectangular ones. The cars of the third generation, which were manufactured since 1983, practically did not differ from the predecessor.
In 1988 the company presented the fourth generation of Mitsubishi Lancer. Cars had smooth lines of the body, a new radiator grille and new thin and elongated front optics. Production of the fifth generation of the model began in 1991. Designers made the car more modern, the hardware was also improved.
In 1995 the company presented Mitsubishi Lancer of the sixth generation. New cars got large headlight clusters and an elegant decorative element on side doors. The presentation of the next generation took place in 2000 in Tokyo. The new impressive design, ease of servicing and good repairability helped the Japanese model to become one of the most popular cars in the world.
Mitsubishi Lancer X
In 2007 in Detroit the Mitsubishi Lancer X four-door sedan created on the Project Global platform was presented. The car was developed on the basis of Concept-cX (it was for the first time presented at the Tokyo motor show in 2005) and Concept-Sportback (debuted on the Frankfurt motor show in 2005).
In the front of the body of Mitsubishi Lancer X there was a radiator grille in Jet Fighter style, and the front optics of the car were located in deep niches. Wide spoiler was installed on the tail of the Mitsubishi Lancer body.
Instruments are placed in stylish niches on the front panel. To manage the multimedia system and the basic electronic equipment, a liquid crystal display is provided. Seats of Mitsubishi Lancer X had elaborated side support.
New Mitsubishi Lancer had on-demand four-wheel drive. Designers paid special attention to increase of level of passive safety at the frontal collisions on high speeds. The design of the body had special crush zones, and also a rigid framework of passenger compartment (RISE technology). In 2009 the car got five stars by results of the EuroNcap tests.
Mitsubishi Lancer X restyling
In 2010 the car had a new large radiator grille, the updated bumper, the additional chrome elements of the exterior and the modified back optics. The car was equipped with a renewed on-board computer with a colour display, and also stood out with its efficient noise isolation.
