Nissan PathfinderNissan Pathfinder SUVs production started in 1986 and still goes on. Due to a ring-bridge structure and a high off-road capability cars instantly won a wide recognition. In various times manufacturing was established in Japan, Indonesia, Spain and the USA. Today cars are manufactured in Tennessee (USA) and Saint-Petersburg (Russia).
Nissan Pathfinder WD21First Nissan Pathfinder generation production proceeded in 1986-1995. At first, only 3-door SUVs were produced. Design and components were taken from Nissan Hardbody Truck. Cars designated for American market got a name of Nissan Pathfinder.
Car of the first generation took part in the 9th Dakar Rally Marathon in 1987.
5-door SUVs entered the market since October 1989 for sales expansion. Wheelbase was the same. Since 1990 3-door SUVs production was closed.
Nissan Pathfinder R50The second Nissan Pathfinder generation was being produced since 1985 till 1999. Body-on-frame construction was replaced by unibody construction. Body of Nissan Pathfinder R50 became more smooth. Headlights were changed. Body length was 4640 mm, width – 1820 mm and height – 1750 mm.
Nissan Pathfinder R50 faceliftsExterior design of the second generation was notably updated in 1999. After the restyling a model got a new front bumper and changed a radiator grille. Company logo was updated in 2001. That year changes also affected an interior design: a new steering wheel was installed.
Nissan Pathfinder R51Since 2005 the third generation production started. Concept had debuted in 2003 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show. Production model was presented in 2004 at the North American Auto Show. Nissan Pathfinder R51 model was built on a new Nissan F-Alpha platform. Developers used a body-on-frame construction type again. New car got longer by 100 mm, wider by 30 mm and higher by 115 mm in comparison with a previous version. For the first time model was equipped with the third seat row in 2005.
Nissan Pathfinder R51 faceliftUpdated Nissan Pathfinder R51 for American market debuted in 2007 at the Chicago Motor Show; for European market – in 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show. Modernization mostly affected technical components; exterior changes were minimal. Front bumper became more round, and rear – more angular.
As a result of a restyling, an interior ergonomics was improved. More expensive materials were used for an interior upholstery. New audio system with a navigation and DVD was included in a extended configuration.
Nissan Pathfinder R52Fourth model entered the market in October 2012. Premiere of a concept, identical to a series model, was performed on North American Motor Show in 2012.
