Info on VW UP model - the right selection of spare parts
Volkswagen Up!
Volkswagen Up! cars have been manufactured by the concern since 2011 till present. One generation of the model has been presented so far. Manufacture of these cars is organized in Bratislava, Slovakia, and Taubate, Brazil. In 2012 Volkswagen Up! won the World Car of the Year competition. The same year it took the second position in the European Car of Year competition.
History of Volkswagen Up! creation
In total, before the beginning of stock production of the model, five concepts were presented: Volkswagen Up! Concept (Frankfurt motor show, 2007), Volkswagen space up! (Tokyo motor show, 2007), Volkswagen space up! Blue Concept (motor show in Los Angeles, 2007), Volkswagen e-up! Concept (Frankfurt motor show, 2009), Volkswagen up! Lite Concept (motor show in Los Angeles, 2009). Serial Volkswagen up! was presented at the motor show in Frankfurt in 2011.
Distinctive feature of these cars was lack of the classical radiator grille. The exterior of the car was characterized by a combination of smooth shapes and sharp lines. The car had relief sidewalls and expressive wheel arches. Due to wide-set wheels (a track of 1424 mm) the car looked larger and more powerful than it actually was. The rear door was made of transparent material, which improved visibility. In some packages mirror cases and door handles had chrome plating. The exterior of the model was highly praised by experts: in 2012 Volkswagen up! received the Best Design award from the IF product design awards.
Passenger compartment impressed with its simplicity and practicality. All important control elements were located ergonomically. Several options of colour finishing of the interior were offered. The passenger compartment with the dashboard matching the body colour was the brightest option.
The line of bodies consisted of three-door and five-door hatchbacks. The car was equipped with various auxiliary systems. Within testing of Euro NCAP in 2011, this model had the highest assessment in five stars.
Volkswagen up! in the markets of the different countries
This car is known also under other names. With insignificant distinctions in exterior Volkswagen up! is on sale as SEAT Mii and Škoda Citigo.
