Citroën BerlingoRelease of commercial Citroën Berlingo model started in 1996 and is still going on. Two generations of the model and three restylings were produced. Release of these cars was organized in Spain, Poland, Portugal and Russia. Outside Europe model was manufactured in Argentina, Turkey and Morocco. In 1997 Citroën Berlingo cars won the competition Van of the Year.
Citroën Berlingo I generationRelease of the first generation of Citroën Berlingo took place in 1996-2002. The official premiere of a novelty took place at the motor show in Paris in 1996. It was difficult to relate this car to a particular class. Cars of the first generation were utilitarian outside and inside. Initially cars had front doors only that complicated boarding of back passengers. The passenger compartment differed in roominess and abundance of containers for small objects. A van and a minivan were available bodies.
To draw attention to the new car, producers decided to create several concept cars on its base. One of them — Sbarro Berlingo Grand Angle — was presented in 1997. It was intended especially for reporters. The tail of the roof rose together with a seat at the telescopic rail that provided protection against the sun. The back door of the concept car was made of glass.
Citroën Berlingo I generation restylingIn 2002 cars of the first generation were restyled. The main changes concerned design of an exterior. The line of the hood was lifted, the shape of front headlights was changed. Also the radiator grille was updated. Lines of the body became more smoothly varying. New large bumpers were set on the car and on some modifications they were painted in the colour of the body. The dashboard was remodeled in the passenger compartment. After the release of the Citroën Berlingo of the second generation, this car was produced as Citroën Berlingo First till 2012.
Citroën Berlingo II generationIn 2008 at the Geneva motor show the second generation of Citroën Berlingo was presented. Principal specifications and design of the car were improved. The car exterior became more modern because of smoothed angles, smoothly varying lines of a body and relief sidewalls. Fog lights were set on the stock cars. The passenger compartment differed in a high level of comfort and a large number of opportunities for transformations. The back row of seats consisted of three separate seats with head restraints. The folded mid seat easily turned into a convenient little table with coasters.
Citroën Berlingo II generation restylingsCitroën Berlingo of the second generation was restyled twice: in 2012 and 2015. Changes were slight. In general the design of the car became sportier and more modern. In 2015 the radiator grille and a front bumper were updated. In scale of available colours new variants appeared: Gris Acier and Brun Moka. The new seven-inch display synchronized with multimedia system and the rear-view camera was installed in the passenger compartment.
Citroën Berlingo in the markets of the different countriesThis car has twins. In France the Peugeot Partner model was produced at the same enterprise. And in Russia Citroën Berlingo was manufactured under the name Doninvest Orion.
