Citroën C5This car is produced by the French concern PSA since 2000. Two generations of the model and one restyling are presented nowadays. Release of cars is organized in Rennes, France.
Citroën C5 I generationThe official premiere of the first generation of Citroën C5 took place at the Parisian motor show in 2000. The stock production began next year. This generation of cars was released till 2004. The car exterior was elegant and modern: the smoothly varying lines of a body, slant hood, an oval radiator grille and slant headlights made design of the car recognizable. The model was produced in bodies of a five-door hatchback and a station wagon.
Citroën C5 had a rich package. Parktronic, automatic screen wipers, tire pressure sensors and rain sensor, the audio system with six loudspeakers were among the electronic systems. All cars had pneudraulic suspension with a possibility of adjustment of a road clearance. Safety system had driver and passenger airbags with two levels of opening, curtain airbags and safety belts with pre stretchers.
In June, 2005, the Citroën company presented an interesting prototype of Citroën C5 by Wire. In these cars there was no mechanical communication between a wheel and the chassis. All control was exercised by means of digital and wireless technologies.
Citroën C5 I generation restylingIn 2004 cars of the first generation underwent restyling. The tail of the car became longer that allowed to increase the trunk volume. The shape of headlights, a radiator grille and a hood were changed. Also back lights and a bumper were modernized. These cars were released till 2008.
Citroën C5 II generationRelease of the second generation of the model started in 2008 and is still going on. Producers completely updated design of the car. New Citroën C5 had a large bumper with larger air inlets, narrow slant headlights, the updated hood with a stamp. Lines of the body became more smoothly varying. Peculiar accent of Citroën cars — oblong front doors and shortened back— was also kept in the second generation of Citroën C5. The car interior was decorated by inserts made of opaque aluminum.
Cars were completed with various auxiliary systems including the AFIL system warning about involuntary crossing of a road marking. Adjustable seats with memory of settings provided comfortable boarding. The range of bodies had sedans and station wagons.
In 2011 the design of Citroën C5 was slightly modernized. The car received the updated disks and a new company logo. Day running lights became LED lights. The interior was not exposed to changes.
Citroën C5 Cross TourerIn 2014 off-road modification of Citroën C5 — Citroën C5 Cross Tourer - was released. The car differed from other cars in 18-inch cast disks, wider fenders and existence of padding protection of bumpers. Mirrors cases were covered with chrome.
