The manufacture of Isuzu Piazza sport cars took place in 1981-1992. During that period two generations of the model were presented. Assembly lines were located in Japan. The model was released in three-door hatchback body.

The history of Isuzu Piazza dates back to 1978, when Japanese Isuzu Company entrusted the creation of worthy replacement of Isuzu 117 Coupe to famous Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. Asso di Fiori concept car was presented at the Geneva Motor Show a year later. The newly-designed product was bright and eye-catching. Dynamic lines, wedge-shaped silhouette, narrow rectangular headlights looked stylish and unusual at the moment of introduction. The presented concept car was accepted warmly by the public, and in 1980 the model was put into a serial production.

The exterior of a stock model underwent minor changes: outside mirrors were moved to the hood, wheel discs received a new design. A dashboard was renewed, and different steering wheel appeared. The location of wiper switches was changed. Seats had a tweed trim and air conditioning was suggested as an additional option. The first-generation Isuzu Piazza cars were supplied in Europe till 1990.

The second generation of Isuzu Piazza sport cars was released in 1991. Those cars had big differences with their predecessor. The second-generation model was built on a new platform by General Motors and had much in common with Isuzu Gemini sedan.

Design of the second-generation cars felt major changes. The front was decorated with dual headlights, integrated into a plastic radiator grille. A new bumper with inbuilt turn indicators appeared. Large outside mirrors provided an excellent visibility. Body lines became more flowing. A different power bulge appeared on the hood. The cars of second generation were mainly available on a Japanese market. The release of the vehicles was carried out until 1992.

Isuzu Piazza cars were known under other names. In Australia, those cars were sold under the name Holden Piazza, in the US - Isuzu Impulse, in Canada - Asüna Sunfire.
