Opel Campo
The Opel Campo pick-up was produced from 1991 to 2001. In total, one generation of Opel Campo and one restyling were presented. These cars were assembled in Japan, and from 1998 to 2001 - in Britain.
History of Opel Campo creation
The Opel Campo pick-up was constructed on the basis of the Isuzu Faster TF pickup and was assembled at the Japanese enterprise. The car differed in reliability, simplicity, asceticism and cross-country capacity. In the passenger compartment utilitarian style prevailed that was caused by the car purpose: the Opel Campo pick-up was created for work, transportation of goods and driving on lack of roads. A distinctive feature of these cars was a bonnet cover extended beyond the edge of the nose of the car.
The car was released in a pickup body. At choice of the buyer, several options of a cabin were offered: Single Cab — the two-seater with a short-base cab, Sports Cab — the two-seat pickup with a longbase cab, Double Cab — a four-seater car with four doors.
Depending on the package, Opel Campo cars could be equipped with the central lock, the on-board computer, power windows, the hydraulic power steering.
Model I generation restyling
In 1997 restyling of Opel Campo cars took place. Changes were insignificant, they concerned a number of elements of an interior and an exterior. In some packages there were chrome plated door handles and mouldings on each side. Mirrors began to be painted in a body colour. In 2001 there was a limited series of Limited Edition pickups. These cars differed from other cars in two-colour painting of the body in a basic package, electric drive of mirrors and the air conditioner.
Opel Campo in the markets of the different countries
Initially the Opel Campo model was offered under the Isuzu Campo name, but then it was decided to sell this car under the Opel brand. In Great Britain the pickup carried the name Vauxhall Brava, in Australia and Malaysia — Holden Rodeo. In the markets of Latin America Opel Campo is known as Chevrolet LUV, in Egypt — as T-Serie. In China the car was offered under the name of Gonow Troy.
