Opel Combo
Opel Combo is the small-capacity lorry released since 1993 till present. Today it is presented by three generations, each of them had positive reviews and estimates, and one restyling of this car. Assembling is carried out at the plants in Portugal, Spain and Turkey.
Model B
Production of the first generation of Opel Combo began in 1993 in Portugal. The three-door van was designed on the basis of Opel Corsa B that appeared six months before, and had a front part of the body almost identical with it, but the body of the car and wheelbase were adapted for an arrangement of a high square cargo compartment.
Following the increasing popularity of the cars intended for the active recreation, Opel released Opel Combo Tour minivan in 1995.
Model C
The second generation of Opel Combo was presented in 2001. Unlike other producers of utility lorries which did not use passenger car platforms any more, Opel continued to design a van on the basis of Opel Corsa.
In comparison with the first generation, Opel Combo vans had sliding side doors. Also the updated Opel Combo Tour was presented soon, and after it there was model Tour Tramp (the car was presented at some markets as Combo Tour Arizona) — the car for the active recreation, with the increased road clearance and a new suspension.
In 2007 after closing of the plant in Portugal, the production of Opel Combo was transferred to Spain.
Model D
The third generation of Opel Combo was presented at the end of 2011, cars went on sale in 2012. This generation was designed on the basis of Fiat Doblo and copied the Italian minivan almost completely. Designers of Opel changed only the design of the radiator grille and front bumper.
Opel Combo cars in a van body with different wheel base and different length (4,4 and 4,7 meters), and with various height of a body also (1,8 or 2,1 meters) were available to the consumer. The model minivan was offered with five – and seven-seater passenger compartment. These cars had a panoramic windscreen and sliding passenger doors.
Opel Combo in the markets of the different countries
In Great Britain Opel Combo cars are known as Vauxhall Combo, in Australia and New Zealand — as Holden Combo, in Chile — as Chevrolet Combo.
