Škoda Citigo

Production of Škoda Citigo began in 2011. Today one generation of these cars in three - and five-door hatchback bodies is available on the market. Assembling of cars is carried out in Bratislava, Slovakia.

History of Škoda Citigo creation

The Škoda Company published the first information about the four-seater three-door hatchback in September, 2011. In the spring of 2012 at the motor show in Geneva the stock five-door hatchback of Škoda Citigo was presented.

Škoda Citigo cars are compact in size, which makes the car convenient and maneuverable in city conditions. The 5-door is 1478 high, 3563 mm long, and 1645 mm wide. The three-door body is 4 mm narrower.

The exterior of the car does not have a complicated design. Large oval headlights are set on the nose of the car and a radiator grille with vertical panels and a chrome frame is placed between them. Large fog lights are integrated into the front bumper.

Interior of Škoda Citigo could be characterized by minimalism and practicality. The producer uses inexpensive, but sturdy materials, with no decorative elements. Colour panels on the doors are merely part of an unpainted metal body component. The majority of internal panels are not covered with any material, even with plastic for example, therefore quality of sound insulation remains at the low level.

Unpretentious interior trimming of the passenger compartment was compensated with sophisticated hardware. The big screen of the Move & Fun system was placed on the front panel and it was possible to operate the navigation and entertaining functions of the system by it. The list of basic options included also parking sensors, air conditioner, and the indicator of open doors.

Škoda Citigo cars are available on the market in three packages: Active, Ambition and Elegance. Each of them includes Head-Thorax side air bags and the City Safe Drive system that automatically stop the car in the presence of obstacles if speed does not exceed 30 km/h.

Škoda Citigo twin cars

Škoda Citigo was one of three cars, created within the Volkswagen AG "New Small Family" project on creation of economic compact cars. Two other cars — Volkswagen Up and SEAT Mii — slightly differed from Škoda Citigo in nose design.
