MG Montego is a car the production of which continued since 1985 to 1991. They were released in a sedan body. The assembly of the cars took place in the UK.

The five-seat MG Montego cars debuted on the market in 1985. They were defined by their small size: its length was 4468 mm, width - 1420 mm, height - 1710 mm.

Due to the wide wheelbase (2570 mm) and well-designed suspension system the car had a high safety rate and good controllability. The developers mounted an independent suspension with stabilizer bar and MacPherson struts on the front axle and dependent multi-link suspension with springs on the rear one. The front wheels were equipped with disc brakes and the rear wheels received drum ones.

The front of the MG Montego was decorated with rectangular headlight units and turn indicators with translucent glass. The false grille and radiator grille were dyed in the main body color, contrasting black moldings, mounted on the doors and bumpers. Protruding wheel arches complemented the stylish exterior design.

The company also introduced a turbocharged version of the MG Montego Turbo on the market, which was equipped with a two-liter engine of 150 hp. The package of these cars included a spoiler on the boot lid and a sunroof.

In 1991 the production of the MG Montego cars was stopped.

On the markets of India, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago MG Montego cars were sold under the name Rover Montego. Also in some countries they were presented as Austin Montego.
