Škoda Favorit
Škoda Favorit cars were produced from 1987 to 1995. During this time, one generation and two restylings of cars were presented in the market in several bodies: pickup, five-door station wagon and hatchback. Production was arranged in the cities of Mlada Boleslav and Vrchlabi, Czech Republic.
Škoda Favorit I generation
In 1987 the presentation of Škoda Favorit took place at the motor show in Brno. In 1988 production of cars in a hatchback body, and in 1990 — in a body of station wagon began.
The body of Škoda Favorit was developed in cooperation with experts from the Italian design studio Bertone. The hatchback had minimalistic exterior. The front part was decorated by almost square headlights. Rectangular fog lights were integrated into the front bumper whose colour contrasted with colour of the body. On the station wagon's doors developers set small mouldings, and some packages had railings and a hatch on the roof. In the exterior of the Škoda Favorit pickup, whose production began in 1991, straight lines and sharp angles prevailed.
The Škoda Favorit model had an elaborated exterior, and high levels of comfort in the passenger compartment. Front seats in hatchbacks and station wagons could fold out, forming two proper berths. A sophisticated climate control system included the heated air supplied into the passenger compartment via multiple channels. Thanks to sufficient height, it was comfortable to sit in the car and load/unload baggage. The dashboard was very stylish and multifunctional. Indicators of all instruments were easy to read at any time of the day and irrespective of weather conditions.
The Škoda Favorit model was very popular. Cars successfully were on sale in domestic market, in Europe and outside it. They were presented in the markets of Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia.
Škoda Favorit I generation restylings
Škoda Favorit cars were updated twice. As a result of restyling of 1991, improved door hinges and reinforced beams providing passenger reliable protection in case of a side crash were installed. In the passenger compartment the change affected design of the dashboard. Developers installed new seats also. All cars were equipped with a new system of fuel injection.
In 1993, new Škodas Favorit with larger front bumpers and comfortable seats entered the market. The back row of seats of the station wagon could be folded or removed completely from the passenger compartment, which allowed to increase the boot volume from 251 to 1038 l.
