Suzuki LianaThe compact Suzuki Liana was produced from 2001 until 2007. The cars were assembled at factories in Pakistan, Japan, China, and Indonesia.
Suzuki Liana generation IThe serial Suzuki Liana five-door hatchback was shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2001. Next year at the Detroit Motor Show, the company presented the sedan. The passenger compartment accommodated three passengers. The car was developed based on Suzuki Baleno.
The engine was located in the front part of the body. Suzuki Liana had front-wheel drive, but some cars had part-time all-wheel drive.
Thanks to the independent suspension of front and rear wheels, Suzuki Liana had good steering response and drive comfort. The car was also equipped with an anti-lock brake system (ABS). In 2003, the manufacturer included air conditioning and a CD audio system into the standard configuration.
The seats of the car featured good side support and had high headrests. The passenger compartment of Suzuki Liana was spacious and comfortable. The manufacturer provided a late 1980-ies-looking digital instrument panel.
Between Suzuki Liana's backswept headlights, there was a small false radiator grill with the logo of the brand. The hood had a curly punching. The round fog lights were located in the deep recesses in the front bumper, with a wide radiator grill between them.
The rear door of Suzuki Liana had additional elements of rear lights, the third brake light, and a wiper. White turn indicators were integrated into the large red rear lights. Sedans did not have the third brake light.
In Japan, the model was successfully used in motorsport. In 2003, racer Nobuhiro Tajima on Suzuki Liana P950 won the All-Japan Dirt Trial championship. For a long time, the car held the "Best car for money" title according to the British TV show Top Gear.
Suzuki Liana I generation restyledIn 2004, the car got a new radiator grill, updated bumpers, improved center console, and upgraded instrument panel. In 2007, the company discontinued the model.
Suzuki Liana in the markets of various countriesIn some countries, Suzuki Liana was sold as Suzuki Baleno. In the USA, the car was known as Suzuki Aerio. In China, the car is sold as Changhe-Suzuki Liana. It is produced in this country at present.
