Ford Tourneo ConnectFord Tourneo Connect was produced since 2002 till present time. The concern positioned this model as the car of a dual purpose: for business and leisure. The car was assembled at new plant in Gelguk, Turkey.
Ford Tourneo Connect I generationProduction of Ford Tourneo Connect began in 2002. Cars were based on the front drive C170 platform which at that time was also used for the Ford Focus model. The five-door minivan with the movable side and oar rear doors was available to buyers.
The compartment of the car was designed for five seats. Passenger seats could be shifted, removed and folded, increasing thereby space for goods transportation.
In the same year production of the Ford Transit Connect minivan, which was almost a full copy of Ford Tourneo Connect, began, but it had only one passenger seat and a big load box.
Ford Tourneo Connect I generation restylingIn 2009 at the auto shows in the USA and Canada the updated Ford Tourneo Connect cars were presented. Designers changed a radiator grille shape, made a front bumper punched. Also the form of head lights and a cowl were changed a little. In the car interior the dashboard, and a form and an arrangement of indicators have been also replaced.
Designers made engines more economic and increased maximum speed to 146 km/h.
Also in 2009 at the Chicago automobile show the public saw hybrid modification of Ford Tourneo Electric for the first time. Together with the Smith Electric Vehicles company lithium - ion phosphatic battery with an extreme power of 21 kW was developed. The total charge was enough for 160 km of running.
Use of the hybrid engine allowed to reduce fuel consumption to 3,8 l by 100 km. Top speed of the car in the hybrid mode made 110 km/h.
Ford Tourneo Connect II generationIn 2012 at the motor show in Amsterdam the company presented the second generation of Ford Tourneo Connect. The exterior of the car got elements of Kinetic Design style. The shape of head lights was considerably changed, bumpers and wheel arches were enlarged.
