How can I extend the service life of the brake calipers?

• Check the components regularly for leaks. It is recommended to remove the wheels and conduct a thorough inspection every 15,000 - 30,000 km, depending on the model version.
• To improve the movement of the guides and prevent corrosion, treat them with a special heat-resistant lubricant.
• When choosing a lubricant, consider its compatibility with the components and the materials they are made from. Do not use copper-based products for aluminium parts. For vehicles with an ABS, lubricants containing metal detergents and fatty acids are not suitable as they conduct electricity. Remember that calipers with exposed guide pins such as ATE components cannot be treated with grease.
• Replace consumable car parts on time. It is more cost effective to buy dust boots, guides, pistons and seals as part of a repair kit rather than separately.
• If necessary, remove dirt and corrosion from the bracket using a metal brush and brake cleaner.
• Use a torque wrench to tighten the fasteners. The recommended torque should be specified in the vehicle’s repair manual.
