Fiat 127 model was manufactured from 1971 to 1987. The car was presented in three generations. Production was organized in the countries of Europe and South America. In 1972 the capacious Fiat 127 model was awarded "The European car of year".

The first Fiat 127 cars were released in 1971 in a body a two-door hatchback. Later three-door hatchbacks began to be released as well. A distinctive feature of the Fiat 127 model was a unique transverse rear suspension with leaf springs. Release of the first generation continued till 1977.

In 1977 the second generation of Fiat 127 appeared and its release continued till 1981. The car exterior changed: the body was modified, the rear screen was increased. Also in the second generation cars began to be released in a five-door hatchback body.

In 1982 Fiat 127 of the third generation appeared. In Europe production of the updated cars continued till 1987, and in South America till 1995. Changes concerned a bumper. The design of the car rear part reminded the Fiat Ritmo model, new for the time. The model interior was updated as well. In the third generation three-door Panorama station wagons were also presented.

The Spanish SEAT manufacturer under the license of the Fiat company produced the SEAT 127 model. Cars of the Spanish production were presented in a three-door and five-door hatchback bodies.
