1 June 2023 JTD engines: operating characteristics of Fiat diesel engines with Common Rail
The first generation of diesel engines from the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles concern equipped with Common Rail direct fuel injection system was named JTD, which stood for UniJet Turbo Diesel. These motors featured more complete combustion of diesel fuel, and low noise and vibration during operation. Inline turbocharged engines with direct fuel injection were installed on a number of Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Lancia vehicles. The second and the third generation of JTD engines were named Multijet and Multijet II. The first car with a JTD engine was Alfa Romeo 156. The Italian saloon car hit the market in 1997.
