Fiat Uno is a compact five-door hatchback. On the Apennine peninsula it remained one of the most popular cars for ten years. The main advantages of this car are the practicality and dynamism. Fiat Uno was released in Europe from 1983 to 2001. One generation and one restyling of Fiat Uno were presented during this period. In 1984 Fiat Uno received "The European car of year" award.

The car was presented at the Geneva motor show in 1983. Low drag coefficient and low fuel consumption were the distinctive features of this car. The producer thought over the suspenders structure well: a front one was independent, with triangular cross levers and spring racks; back — semi-dependent, with longitudinal levers, telescopic dampers, screw springs.

In 1989 in Frankfurt the updated Fiat Uno debuted. Minor changes were made in the exterior of the car: the fifth door was enlarged, as well as it’s window and the window wiper, the new hood and a massive bumper were established. Having changed a hood form, designers managed to lower the drag coefficient to 0,30. Some modifications of Fiat Uno are used now by police in the different cities of Italy.

The model became very popular. After the termination of production of Fiat Uno in Italy in 1995, release of this model was continued at Fiat Auto Poland SA plant in Poland (till 2001). The model was produced also in India, Morocco, Turkey, Egypt, South Africa, Pakistan, Argentina. In 2010 in the market of South America Fiat Uno was replaced with Fiat Novo Uno which is made till present in Brazil.
