Mitsubishi L300

Production of the compact car Mitsubishi L300 began in 1979 and continues till present. Assembling of this car was carried out mostly at the plants in Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, Venezuela, and also in Taiwan and on Philippines.

Mitsubishi L300 I generation

The presentation of the first generation of Mitsubishi L300 took place in 1979. In comfortable passenger compartment of Mitsubishi L300 there were four seats. Access to the passenger compartment was easy because of wide sliding doors. Mitsubishi L300 cars went on sale in minivan, van and pickup bodies.

The car had high quality of assembly, excellent stability on the road, and also good off-road performance. Rather reasonable price and low operational costs with high loading capacity made Mitsubishi L300 popular among consumers. In 1982 four-wheel drive modifications went on sale.

Mitsubishi L300 II generation

In 1986 the second generation of Mitsubishi L300 went on sale. The sturdy body structure of the car meant a lot of these cars have remained preserved in a good condition. The car had front and back spring suspensions.

Because of some of its design features, Mitsubishi L300 was not sufficiently safe for the passengers and the driver. By results of the ANCAP tests Mitsubishi L300 received only one star out of the five possible.

Mitsubishi L300 II generation restylings

In 1991 the car got new front optics, an improved front bumper and mouldings. In 1997 the producer equipped Mitsubishi L300 with airbags, and improved the design of the front bumper.

In 2001 Mitsubishi L300, intended for sale in the territory of Europe, got anti-lock brake system (ABS), new front bumper, modified airbags, improved seats, and more reliable safety belts.

In Japan production of Mitsubishi L300 was stopped in 2004, and in Europe the model was produced till 2005. Today the car is produced in China, Turkey, and also in Taiwan.

Mitsubishi L300 in the markets of the different countries

In domestic market of Japan, the car was on sale under the name Mitsubishi Delica. In the countries of North America the second generation of Mitsubishi L300 was known as Mitsubishi Wagon and Mitsubishi Van.
