Volkswagen Eos
Release of Volkswagen Eos cars proceeded from 2006 to 2015. Assembly was carried out in the city of Palmela, Portugal. The car became the first coupe-cabriolet in a model range of the German brand.
Volkswagen Eos I generation
The prototype Volkswagen Concept C was presented in 2004 at the Geneva motor show. In September, 2005, at the Frankfurt motor show a production car Volkswagen Eos debuted . The North American premiere took place in January, 2006 at the motor show in Los Angeles. Same year sales of new model started.
The cornerstone of Volkswagen Eos design was the PQ46 platform whereas the wheel base was borrowed from the PQ35 platform. A specific feature of the Volkswagen Eos car was the five-section folding roof. It was automatically folded to the trunk in 25 seconds. At the same time the trunk volume was decreased from 300 to 190 l. Also the lifting and movable glass hatch was built into the roof.
The design of the exterior of Volkswagen Eos combined style and a harmony. The car reminded the Volkswagen Polo model in the shape of headlights . As an option, bixenon headlights with static cornering lights and dynamic cornering lights were offered.
At creation of the car, the Easy Entry system with the electric drive was adopted for the first time. This system facilitated boarding of passengers to the back seats. As a result of pressing the button, front seats slid forward, opening the access to the back seats and after the passengers took their seats, the seats came back to the initial position. The passenger compartment had four seats.
The Volkswagen Eos model was equipped with numerous options. When designing, the special attention was paid to safety. The car was equipped with the frontal and side air bags, the active head restraints, and also system of stability control (ESP). Ergonomic sports seats and climate control system were responsible for comfort. A steering wheel, the gearbox and parking brake levers in the car were trimmed by leather.
In 2009 a limited series of Volkswagen Eos White Night cars was released. The key feature of the car consisted in stylish black-and-white design. The white body of the car contrasted with black roof, radiator grille and external mirrors. Also cars had 18-inch wheel disks (16-inch disks were included in the standard package of the Volkswagen Eos model) and the chassis was lowered by 15 mm. Heating of front seats was included in the standard package.
Volkswagen Eos I generation restyling
In 2010 there was a restyling of Volkswagen Eos. Changes affected front and back bumper, headlights and back lights, side mirrors. The design of wheel disks was changed. Also as a result of updating, new modifications became available.
