Info on VW LUPO model - the right selection of spare parts
Volkswagen Lupo
Volkswagen Lupo is a car produced from 1998 to 2005. Developers positioned it as a car with very low fuel consumption.
The name "Lupo" was translated from Latin as "wolf". The model was named after the plant in Wolfsburg, Germany, where it was initially manufactured. The car was produced also in Brussels, Belgium.
History of Volkswagen Lupo creation
The Volkswagen Lupo model was presented in 1998. It was meant to replace the Volkswagen Polo model in a niche of small city cars.
The car was constructed on the VW A00 platform. The car was produced only in a body a 3-door hatchback. Designers positioned it as budget economic transport therefore it had two packages only: basic and sports. The car became very popular in Germany therefore designers decided to release several special modifications.
Volkswagen Lupo 3L is the first-ever car which consumed no more than 3 l of fuel on 100 km. To reach such indicator, designers installed adiesel engine with a direct fuel injection system, a lightweight aluminium body, automatic start-stop system, optimized transmission and improved aerodynamics.
To activate the system of fuel saving, it was necessary to switch to ECO mode. The car automatically limited extreme engine power and used energy of braking. Minimum possible fuel usage with this mode equaled 2,79 l / 100 km. These developments were further also improved and became in 2013 the basis for release of the Volkswagen XL1 concept car in which fuel usage did not exceed 1 l / 100 km.
Volkswagen Lupo FSI was analogue of modification of Volkswagen Lupo 3L with increased power. The car had a little changed nose and was on sale only in Germany and Austria.
Volkswagen Lupo GTI cars is a very expensive modification. As standard options, it has xenon headlights, 15-inch disks and the stylized interior in black colour. Developers have installed the engine of the increased power which accelerated to 100 km/h in 7,8 seconds and had the maximum speed of 204 km/h.
