Volkswagen Parati
Volkswagen Parati is the station wagon based on the Volkswagen Gol model. It was produced from 1982 to 2012.
The car was created for the market of Latin America. The name "Parati" refers to the historical city in Brazil with a large number of tourist sights. Volkswagen Parati was part of the line of cars to which the Volkswagen Gol, Volkswagen Voyage and Volkswagen Saveiro models also belonged.
Volkswagen Parati I generation
Designers presented the Volkswagen Parati station wagon in 1980. Along with this car, 4-door Volkswagen Voyage sedan and a 2-door Volkswagen Saveiro coupe were produced. These models were based on one VW BX platform and had a large number of common elements, both in design of the exterior, and in technical details. Despite the extreme similarity, in the future these models were developed separately.
Volkswagen Parati cars were initially released in two packages, CL and GL. The improved package included a tachometer, LED illumination of the dashboard, the dashboard was more elegant, and higher quality upholstery materials were used in the passenger compartment .
Volkswagen Parati I generation restyling
At the automobile exhibition in São Paulo in 1988, designers presented the new Volkswagen Parati car. Its appearance practically was not changed, but developers considerably improved the engines, suspension and transmission. Engineers installed a catalytic converter on all the modifications to reduce the level of emission of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Also designers presented new sports modification of Volkswagen Parati GLS which was equipped with an engine of the increased power. Sports modification became very popular in Brazil and Argentina therefore developers released the limited sports series under the name Volkswagen Parati GT 1.8 and Volkswagen Parati GTI 2000.
Volkswagen Parati II generation
In 1996 the company began release of Volkswagen Parati of the second generation, having made it attractive to young buyers. The design of the exterior had a smooth outline. Also the car received additional air bags. The second generation of the model became popular in Canada and the USA.
The improved and sports packages of the model only entered the Canadian and American markets .
Volkswagen Parati III generation
Designers presented model of the third generation in 1998. The front bumper became rounder. The trapezoid radiator grille and new front headlights were set on the car, the shape of both bumpers was changed.
Sports modification of Volkswagen Parati received the reinforced suspension and advanced running gear. Also the aerodynamic tuning with additional protection of the exhaust system was established on this modification.
Volkswagen Parati III generation restyling
In 2000 designers carried out a small restyling of the model. The exterior of the car remained almost invariable: bumpers and radiator were stylized. The main changes concerned the interior. The dashboard was completely changed.
Extra air conditioner, heated seats, improved upholstery materials were included in the most expensive package.
Volkswagen Parati IV generation
Volkswagen Parati of the fourth generation was presented in 2005. Developers increased the size of the bumper, improved visibility due to increase in the glazing area. Besides, designers installed anti-lock brake system(ABS), central lock, a tachometer, a 6-disk CD player.
