Info on VW VENTO model - the right selection of spare parts
Volkswagen Vento
Volkswagen Vento is a sedan produced from 1992 to 1999.
The name "Vento" carried on tradition of naming of Volkswagen models after winds and atmospheric phenomena. Translation from Portuguese and Italian, "Vento" means "wind".
History of Volkswagen Vento creation
The car was created on the basis of the PQ25 platform. Designers presented it on the European market in 1992, and on the American market it was presented in 1993.
Actually Volkswagen Vento cars are successors of the Volkswagen Jetta II model.
The design was developed by the popular automobile designer Herbert Schafer. Designers improved aerodynamics of the body in comparison with the predecessor. Also they had very austere exterior: rectangular headlights, radiator grille, small bumper.
Developers have created model only in one body — a 4-door sedan. The car was developed in six packages: two basic - CL/CLX, two with larger comfort - GL/GLX and two sports - GT, GTD.
In Europe the model was in average demand, but in the American markets it caused quite an uproar.
For years of production, the model had several minor changes. In 1994 designers changed the interior a little, in particular replaced the upholstery materials and improved the glove box. In 1996 developers presented several new modifications.
In 1999 manufacture of the car was stopped because of plummeting sales.
Volkswagen Vento in the markets of the different countries
In some countries of America, Volkswagen Vento was produced under the name of Volkswagen Jetta III.
The Volkswagen concern resumed release of the car under the name Volkswagen Vento at their plant in India in 2013. Nevertheless, the car actually was a rebadged Volkswagen Polo Sedan. Under this name the model was on sale in Malaysia, Russia, Thailand, South Africa, Indonesia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
The number of packages and modifications was smaller than in original Volkswagen Polo model. Developers provided three packages: Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. The integrated audio system, anti-lock braking system (ABS), multifunctional display, front airbags and genuine or imitation leather upholstery used in passenger compartment were included in all trim levels as standard equipment.
The fifth and sixth generation of Volkswagen Jetta in Argentina and Uruguay also was sold under the name of Volkswagen Vento. The management decided not to use the widespread name Volkswagen Jetta. The reason was that the similar-sounding word "yeta" means "bad luck" or "curse" there.
