Work lights are used in garages for illuminating the working area and hard-to-reach parts of the vehicle. Some of them are used as diagnostic tools.

Types of available work lights

By design:

• Lamps. These consist of a socket or a holder and a replaceable bulb or tube. The light is diffused evenly around the device.

• Rechargeable battery. The battery charge is usually sufficient for several hours. They are used in hand-held and portable devices.
• Non-rechargeable battery. Non-rechargeable batteries are disposable, which increases the initial cost of the device.

By installation method:

• Portable. These lights have a handle for ease of transportation. Most often, they are powered with a rechargeable battery. They create optimal working conditions anywhere.
• Floor lights. These lights have a frame or a telescopic tripod.
• Suspended. They have a hook for hanging.
• Headlamps. These lights are suitable for working in hard-to-reach places and free up the hands.

Recommendations for using work lights

• To avoid mechanical damage, protect the devices from impacts and significant heat, as their body may crack or melt. Therefore, always check that the lighting fixtures are secure and do not place them near open flames or hot objects.
• Avoid moisture on electrical contacts and connectors. Therefore, avoid using the lights in the rain, unless this is allowed by the manufacturer.
• Always wear special safety glasses when using UV lights.
