Cadillac SRXCadillac SRX is a luxury crossover, which has been produced since 2004 to the present. Assembly of the first generation cars was carried out at the Lansing Grand River Plant in the United States, as well as in Russia and China. The second generation is produced in Mexico, China and Russia. Since 2010, this model is a bestseller in the US among Cadillac cars.
Cadillac SRX I generationThe Cadillac SRX automobile was launched at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show, and went on sale the following year. In 2004, 2005 and 2006 the Cadillac SRX model was among the five best cars in the «Luxury SUV» category according to the American magazine Car and Driver. The SUV was also nominated for "The North American Truck of the Year" in 2004.
The crossover was built on the Sigma platform, the engine was positioned longitudinally. The car had a rigid monocoque body. Front and rear brakes were ventilated disc. The features of the exterior were angular forms and sweeping lines of the body. Lights were arranged vertically in relation to the hood. The expanded configuration included a sunroof.
The car interior was trimmed in leather. Ergonomic seats and a height-adjustable steering column ensured comfort. The vehicles were equipped with advanced active safety systems: the antilock brake system (ABS) and the electronic stability control StabiliTrak.
In 2007 Cadillac SRX vehicles became available in the sports package with 18- or 20-inch wheels.
Cadillac SRX II generationIn January 2010, the second generation Cadillac SRX model was presented at the Detroit Motor Show. The updated car was based on the GM Theta Premium all-wheel drive platform. Release of the production cars began a few months later.
The changes affected the car's design and technical equipment. Body lines became smoother, giving dynamics to the vehicle exterior. The car received relief stripes on the side doors and protruding wheel arches. 18-inch alloy wheels are offered as a basic option. Compared with its predecessor, the second generation crossover was somewhat smaller. The body length was 4834 mm, and height - 1669 mm, while the corresponding dimensions of the first generation cars reached 4950 and 1722 mm. The width of the updated model increased by 66 mm and amounted to 1 910 mm.
Despite reduced dimensions, the car interior remained comfortable. Wide door openings provided easy boarding and seats with leather finish and electric drives provided comfort for the driver and passengers.
The basic package included:a tilt and reach adjustable steering column, power steering, headlight washers and power windows. The multifunction steering wheel allowed to control the audio system and dual-zone climate control. The Top extended package was supplemented with rear seats with the hatch for transportation of long objects, three-zone climate control and the keyless access function.
Cadillac SRX II generation restylingIn 2012 the second generation Cadillac SRX model was revamped. The launch of the updated car was held at the motor show in New York. The car has received an increased grille with chrome elements, an updated logo. The body is now available in a new color variant - Xenon Blue Metallic. In the car interior the changes primarily affected the instrument panel: there appeared several USB-ports and a slot for SD-cards.
